On Monday 25th June 2007 at 1145hrs the Humber Rescue team were called to assist the Police with the evacuation of houses and residential homes in the Anlaby area due to torrential rain fall resulting in extensive flooding. At about 1400hrs Humber Rescue received another emergency call from the Coast Guard for the main lifeboat to attend a vessel aground on the River Ouse, a second crew launched while the first crew remained in Anlaby. The Yacht Huckleberry was found abandoned and was towed to the safety of Blacktoft Jetty.

The team were eventually stood down at 2300hrs. At the point 3 of the 5 crew that had been out all day helping others returned to their own homes only to find these had been severely affected by flooding.

On Tuesday 26th June the rain and flooding continued and Humber Rescue Land Rover and crew were request by the Police at 0445hrs to assist with the evacuation of the Willows residential home in Grimsby as the River Freshney had burst its banks. This task was completed and the team returned to the Lifeboat Station at about 0830hrs. The team were then tasked again to Grimsby to standby at Cromwell Road Fire Station but were diverted back to the north bank to assist with evacuation of residents in the Kingswood area of Hull. The team continued to receive high priority tasking from the Police Silver Command to evacuate vulnerable residents in the Anlaby Road area of Hull and later back to Kingswood. The team eventually stood down at about 2130hrs after a very long day.

Although it was a very long 2 day Humber Rescue learnt a lot and forged new friendships and renewed old friendships especially with other emergency services; Humberside Police, Humberside Fire and Rescue, International Rescue and of course our good friends at the Coast Guard.
